I am erecting a palladium self build victorian conservatory and the base is pre-fabricated/steel base.

My problem is that I have dugged four hole for the four footings to go in. Now one of the hole is next to a drain. The soil (earth) around that hole is soft and I have already digged 1.5ft. I have not concrte in yet since I am worried about the soft soil. Someone advised me to put lentel cement block and put the concrete on the top of it.

Do you think it is a good idea? or there is any other advice you could offer?
Also, the drain which runs about 1.5m below be affcted anyway?

I've just built a Palladium Conservatory,put the base down in February..v wet the ground not good.What I did was put some packed hardcore down before putting in the concrete for the base feet seems to have done the trick.If your worried about a drain running underneath make the footing a bit bigger so the weight it distributed over a larger area.
Could you please answer me a question,did you get a Damp proof membrane with your base? If you did what did it look like? Was it clear plastic sheet or a black material?

is the ground by the drain that soft most metal bases require 450mm deep.
The base will naturally span the drain and access can be gained via a trap-door and removable floor joist, built in during fabrication.Did you explain to the company a drain is near by.
