Conservatory Heating

Question to Tina Dunlop
Tina
You answered a question (sometime ago on another web site)submitted by Judith in which you said "British Gas have introduced a range of special (central heating)radiators for conservatories". On inquiry at the British Gas web site they did not answer the question as to the name of the range but they have sent the brocure. Can you please advise the name of the range, as the only ones in the brocure that appear suitable are vertical types (Cobratherm or Hot Spring)and I am looking for a horizontal type. Many thanks

Bob Henn

Re:Conservatory Heating

British Gas have I believed updated their web site and the links to that product are no longer there.

One alternative that I am aware of is:
http://www.myson.co.uk/WallstripInformation.html
Discreet and smart, the Wallstrip perimeter heating system is the ultimate solution to to eliminating cold spots in any size of room, whether it be a waiting room, conservatory or office.

For information on your nearest stockist, please contact the Myson Sales Office on 0191 4917530 or email Sales@Myson.co.uk

Because of its design its not very "tall" and will fit underneath the internal cill of most low level dwarf walls in a conservatory.

While perhaps not the size you need another alternative is electric heating - see
http://www.easy-heat.co.uk

Finally, I think I should point out that one of the conditions for conservatories not requiring building regulation approval is The conservatory / extension is not permanently heated! Some confussion as to what that really means - in the main I believe that means any radiator within the conservatory is controllable, ie can be shut of from the rest of the system. See http://www.sefton.gov.uk/techservice...ol/BLDCONS.htm

best wishes

Re:Conservatory Heating

Bob - not sure whether the radiator solution tapped onto a main CH system is the one you seek but if you need an independent setup then please look at our Wood Pellet Stoves at http://www.StCroix.co.uk
These are almost as quick to light as gas and do not need a fancy chimney (very similar to gas flue) and for a conservatory would be enough to have our basic flue kit.
On top these are not only efficient but also "very green" if you are environmentally concerned plus there is a grant available to assist ! :D Must be good news.
