white westinghouse

Has anyone had experience of little known 'white westinghouse' appliances (part of the electrolux group I believe). I am looking at the ww-f70ss oven and matching hob, possibly dishwash aswell. They look great (to me) but am finding it very difficult to find a retailer where I can view in the flesh. Have been to website and even phoned the distributors 'waterline' who suggested maybe Jewsons or Travis Perkins showrooms? Any ideas?

Hi raydox,

I don't think White Westinghouse are anything to do with Electrolux. It's a make that, together with Homark, used to be owned by Bernsteins - who supplied the appliances through B&Q stores (and with Elizabeth Ann kitchens), some years ago.

Before that, it was a very high quality American appliance company. These days, it's just a brand name.

A company called PAB (Premium Appliance Brands) bought those brand names when Bernsteins went bust. PAB don't make any appliances themselves, they get them all made in places like Italy and China.

I can't help with your questions about the quality (it's very difficult to tell these days - with the manufacturing being done all over the world), or about where to see them. They tend to get sold with kitchens, from kitchen showrooms, rather than as individual appliances ... which is probably why you're having trouble.

If they were rubbish, then Waterline wouldn't distribute them (they can't afford to upset their kitchen showroom customers and they do their own servicing - so have a vested interest in them lasting for at least their guarantee period). I don't think they're very high quality ... then again I don't expect they're very expensive!

Hello Majjie,
Thanks for your input. Hmmm, yes well it's nice to know Waterline wouldn't distribute rubbish but then again indeed they are quite mid range priced so I guess its a case of - pay your money;takes your choice!
As they are british designed (according to website) and they have a 'range cooker look' for built under (oven) and they do have some historical pedigree and they are reasonably priced and servicing looks reasonably secure then I think I might just risk it. ( Is my heart ruling my head here?!)

If that's the price range you're looking at ... then I'd say go for it!
