Kitchen Federation?

Recently I have heard of quite a few people who have had a bad experience in having kitchens fitted (and other home improvements). I have also had my own difficulties in trying to get a sliding wardrobe company to finish what they started. National and local consumer programmes also seem to be constantly featuring companies big and small who have give customers considerable anxiety.

I am thinking of getting a new kitchen - nothing very fancy - but I would like the company to fit what I order, when they agree to do it and to finish it. It seems to me that traders should have to be affiliated to some federation or other body in order to give the consumer some protection. I did a search on the web and found the KBSA, but the affiliated companies near Belfast appear to be very up-market and financially out of my range.

???

Any thoughts?

Noel

Re:Kitchen Federation?

When you find a kitchen company whom you THINK is trustworthy ask them for a couple of names /addresses of kitchens they have installed recently and follow them up!! If they are reticent to do so I would treat accordingly!

Re:Kitchen Federation?

Absolutely spot on Chris,
Any company worth their salt should never object to you contacting previous customers and this should be a more frequently encouraged practice among traders.
