kitchen counter top

I am trying to figure out if there is a quick fix to an eye sore
counter top. We need to redo our kitchen but right now is not
a good time. Is there anything that is inexpensive to put on a counter top to cover it until we get to remodel our kitchen?
I was wondering if wallpaper could be set on top of the counter top with some type of clearcoat over the wallpaper to make it washable.Have I completley lost my mind and should I just live with it until we have the time?

Re:kitchen counter top

Hmmmm, the only thing I have seen to cover a worktop/counter top is a product called "Fablon" this is a vynyl sheeting material with a print of whatevedr takes your fancy?? It's not cheap and hard to apply!! Personally Iwould have thought it more cost effective to replace your tops!!

Re:kitchen counter top

I have managed to get an extra 3 years out of very shabby benchtops by painting them with oil-based paint (onto laminate!), it works! (incidentally, we are now in a position to replace the whole kitchen-yay!).

Re:kitchen counter top

Laminate tops are available at reasonable enough costs as to warrant a temporary measure and provide less labour and greater resilience than other alternatives suggested.
