I am trying to design a kitchen but have two major problems:
1) There is a double sealed manhole cover wher I want to put part of the design - Have I to leave access to this - if so can I put a free standing appliance (washer) which could be removed on top of it ?

2) It is a narrow galley type kitchen - is there a minimum requirement for access between the two worktops or is it what is acceptable to me ?

Hi Tony!! !. you should wherever possible leave "Reasonable" access to the chamber. However don't forget it may all go wrong the moment you finish installing the kitchen!! And It may be you who has to gain access!!
2.Whatever is acceptable to you. However I have allways been instructed to leave a minimum of 900mm wherever humanly possible.
For narrow units try Howden's they do a 500mm wide unit.
