You might want to check out some of the pages in the homes and lifestyle section of the BBC site (linked to in my sig), it may give you some ideas. You could also try watching home improvement and development shows, if you have the time & inclination; Don't know where you're based but here in the UK there always seems to be at least one, on some channel or another, whenever I turn the TV on.
