When my plumber came to fit my new radiators he used plastic pipe from the boiler to the places where the radiators would be installed. He said that the bit from the wall to the radiator would be copper.

I have just had a look and he has used plastic pipe from the wall to the radiator. Can anyone tell me if this is acceptable? Should I point this out to the building inspector when he comes for the final inspection?

I'd be surprised if you had any problems in terms of function or regs, think it's more of a looks thing. I've heard that PVC piping isn't ideal for systems that are under constant pressure, but as far as I know there's no reason why a mostly pvc pipe system *needs* to have copper piping for it's visible sections.
To start with your best bet would be to have a chat with the installing plumber, see if he has a (plausible sounding) reason for having used plastic when he originally told you he'd be using copper for those sections.
