Surely someone can give me an answer!

:? Hi its JuJu again.? Really would like some ideas on the noisy pipes(?) when the loo is flushed.? Running the cold water tap gets rid of the noise however.? Please oh wise people, has anyone got any ideas what it is?? I'd rather not get a plumber in and pay through the nose for something that might be relatively minor.
Thanks in anticipation? :-\

;D
Many thanks for that.? Like the possibility of trying to fix it with a yoghurt pot off the diy site(!), which like you said, was a good site.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, this site (ie ask.questions) is brilliant and SO helpful.? Where would we be without you!

Re: Surely someone can give me an answer!

We had this problem a few months back. It was really annoying especdially at night. As soon as the loo was flushed there was this loud noise vibrating from somewhere and as we live in a bungalow, it seemed to vibrate through everyroom!!
Eventually the answer was found. It was a small valve on the toilet (something to do with the where the water enters the cistern)The valve was easily adjustable and after a tweak or so-no more noise. Its been fine ever since.

Hope this helps,
Lauraine.

Re: Surely someone can give me an answer!

Well - I've just discovered another way to stop the noise!? Altering the small valve worked fine for about 2 seconds. In the end I got so frustrated with the thing, I decided to put Blue TaK round it!? So, when it works itself a bit loose, I just alter the Blue Tak a bit and it stops the water coming through too fast, which seems to make it noisy.
I feel quite proud of myself - (until the whole thing breaks down of course, which about sums my luck up!).? Wish me luck that good old Blue Tak continues to work with no detrimental effect!
Cheers? 8)
JuJu

Re: Surely someone can give me an answer!

Stick a plastic sleeve over the tap in the cistern which reaches down to the bottom, that will reduce how fast it fills plus it will fill silently.
