Another reason for using frame add ons is if you have an opening window that could hit a soffit board above. Once I fitted a window and failed to take into consideration the soffit board above. When the window was fitted the casement would only go so far about 5 inches before it hit the soffit. Hence I had to get the window remade with a packer added.
