Sorry Jean Two, it isn't really possible to give an opinion from afar. If the width of granite between the sink recess and the edge is less than 100mm then it would be prone to cracking ... many granite companies won't provide a "cut out" with surrounds less than this width.

Having said that, once the granite is fitted there isn't usually a problem, as long as it is properly supported.

If the crack resulted from the fitting process (or from something unusual - like jumping on it!) then filling and polishing could well solve the problem. If the crack resulted from a lack of sufficient support to the fitted granite .. then you are likely to get more problems in the future.
